The Team

Founded and led by Matt Lucas, Matt’s Guitar Shop is today a key player in the expertise, support, and sale of musical instruments. It represents a new generation of guitar lovers for whom music comes first and for whom tone matters more than the serial number. It also has a specialty: hunting down instruments that once belonged to artists, from Jeff Buckley’s Telecaster to Tal Farlow’s Gibson, passing through Frank Zappa’s Les Paul and Steve Jones’s.

The Matt’s Guitar Shop team brings together complementary profiles united by the same passion for musical creation. From the luthier, a technical expert with a pragmatic vision of guitars, to an artistic and historical approach in the art and memorabilia department, and the advice and strong expertise of its founder and director Matthieu Lucas, the team embodies the diversity and duality inherent to the exceptional instruments market.

Whether assisting you with acquisition projects, sales, or guitar searches; with setup and lutherie operations; or with acquiring artworks and memorabilia from rock history, we are delighted to help and support you!

Matt Lucas – CEO

Passionate about music and rock since his adolescence, Matt made the guitar his gateway to the world that fascinates him so much. In nearly ten years, he has become one of the specialists in exceptional guitars, making Matt’s Guitar Shop a recognized name in instrument sales. Fascinated by the exciting and curious dimension of artist guitars, Matt early on chose to make musician collections his core specialty. Although he also sells vintage guitars and more modern instruments, historical instruments form the essence of Matt’s Guitar Shop.

Convinced that the most beautiful stories are told through sharing and passing on, Matt has always wanted to place openness at the heart of the Shop’s philosophy. Its rarest gems are regularly loaned to artists on stage or in the studio, while anyone can make an appointment to play the Shop’s finest guitars. Over time, Matt has also become an important voice of expertise and analysis in the international musical instrument market.

The collections of Lenny Kravitz and Craig Ross, as well as that of Deryck Whibley, are among the gems of 2024 that passed through Matt’s Guitar Shop.

Enguerran Molmy – Head of Art and Memorabilia Department

Passionate about music history, Enguerran has always admired the artifacts and objects that have shaped the great story of rock. From stage outfits to manuscripts, including photography and guitar picks, these small items that tell the larger story never fail to inspire wonder in him.

After studying Art Market Law and Contemporary Art at La Sorbonne, Enguerran joined Matt’s Guitar Shop with a clear goal: to bring to life a true artistic department. Centered around the exciting project of organizing exhibitions dedicated to the greatest artists, this department offers every music lover the chance to bring a small piece of history home.

From the times when the great history of music was told by photographers nestled in the audience, we have preserved precious negatives that serve as genuine documents. Music photography holds a key importance that complements that of guitars. Initially focused on art prints, Matt’s Rock Gallery works closely with several photographers with whom Enguerran collaborates and exchanges regularly. He is also responsible for highlighting our memorabilia items sourced directly from stages and studios worldwide. Finally, Enguerran oversees the organization of our various retrospective exhibitions as well as the artistic direction for the creation of our original posters.

Paul Mouilleron – Luthier

Driven by a passion for the guitar since a young age, Paul decided to make luthiery his profession. He is fascinated by the possibilities offered by guitar making and eager to understand every little secret. Currently preparing for his Craftsmen’s Certificate (Brevet des Métiers d’Art) at ITEMM after completing his CAP, Paul joined the Matt’s Guitar Shop team as a luthier and workshop manager. He hones his skills at school while applying his knowledge to some of the most beautiful guitars ever made.

Capable of crafting solid-body and acoustic guitars, as well as performing maintenance and more extensive structural repairs, Paul will be happy to welcome you or respond to your requests. He will shape your needs on your instruments (guitars, basses, ukuleles, amps) promptly and with a smile!

Baptiste Marcon – Photographer

Driven by a deep love for street photography, Baptiste Marcon has developed a sincere, authentic, and caring eye. His approach to photography is that of a discreet and attentive observer, ready to capture the “decisive moment” dear to Cartier-Bresson, to highlight the poetic power of an instant.

Passionate about music since childhood, a love passed down by his family, Baptiste has recently developed his concert photography practice. From backstage to the edge of the stage, he brings his authentic gaze and sense of the moment into the shadows of concerts to create suspended images. His exceptional prints can be found on the Matt’s Rock Gallery website. He is also responsible for the photography on the website, where the beauty of each guitar reflects the vast possibilities offered by luthiery and the entire history contained in an instrument.
