Ibanez Jem Bass – Dusty Hill Collection

Dusty Hill is one of the most respected and recognized musicians in the contemporary music scene. As the iconic bassist of ZZ Top and the longtime partner of Billy Gibbons, he established his own playing style and helped shape some of the greatest rock hits of the 21st century. On stage, Dusty Hill and Billy Gibbons not only harmonized musically, but also visually, with matching outfits and custom-built instruments crafted especially for them by their luthier, John Bolin (including the “Bug“, “Jelly Bean“, and “Crazy Cowboy Guitar“, all on display at Matt’s Guitar Shop). This Ibanez Jem bass in vivid colors is a true rarity among Ibanez instruments. Based on the Jem model created by Steve Vai, this bass is one of the only—if not the only—Jem bass in existence. It was likely sent to Dusty Hill in recognition of his status as a distinguished bassist, and he played and appreciated it. With its striking “Desert Sun Yellow” finish, this bass is an exceptionally rare collector’s piece.
