Gretsch The Monkees Cheap Trick 1967

Gretsch The Monkees Cheap Trick 1967
At the end of 1964, a young director named Bob Rafelson decided to create a TV clip strongly inspired by the Beatles’ hit film: A Hard Day’s Night. The young director and his partner at the time placed an ad looking for “four crazy boys” and thus chose four young men named Michael Nesmith, Micky Dolenz, Davy Jones, and Peter Torklesson.
From the first broadcasts, the series was a huge success, and the songs from the show led to clips featuring The Monkees in action.
With the colossal success of the group, Gretsch decided to create a signature model called The Monkees to be linked with the band’s image. This model was produced for a very short time and ceased production in 1970 when the group disbanded. This beautiful example is signed on the pickguard by Micky Dolenz and has the particularity of having been played by Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick for the video shot for the band’s latest album. We can also see the instrument on the cover photo of that album, Rick Nielsen likely being a fan of a band that has marked history with five albums, four of which reached number one on the charts!
Fans of Monkeemania, this guitar is for you!
