Our exhibitions

Matt’s Guitar Shop has always placed sharing at the heart of its approach. Aware that music grows through exchanging around our common passion, it early on opened its doors by appointment to allow everyone to get close to the exceptional guitars in its collection.

Then, the desire to open a true artistic department materialized with Matt’s Rock Gallery, allowing everyone to collect real pieces of history. We also sought to directly involve enthusiasts and bring to music a dimension that has been quite rare until now: retrospective exhibitions.

From this desire to offer music lovers an extension beyond guitars, we decided to organize real exhibitions dedicated to some of the greatest artists. Our first project was devoted to one of the most respected guitar heroes, Slash. Organized in collaboration with his brother Ash Hudson, this beautiful event brought together for the first time drawings of Slash as a teenager, still simply ‘Saul Hudson,’ straight from the family archives, as well as stage guitars and visual creations that accompanied his career. Ash was present to talk about his creations (including the Snakepit) with enthusiasts who came from all over Europe. We had also created a screen print entirely hand-pulled in a Paris workshop, as well as a lithograph, both signed by Slash. A few copies are still available on our Matt’s Rock Gallery website!

Later, we decided to reissue the project with Kaleo. Organized in collaboration with J.J. Julius Son, this first retrospective dedicated to one of the most famous Icelandic bands brought together original manuscripts, setlists, and studio and stage guitars. The opening night took shape around an intimate private concert, gathering several dozen passionate spectators from all over Europe. For a few songs, J.J. Julius Son and Thor – the band’s harmonica player – made us dream and revealed in the best possible way our new creation: an exclusive poster of the Payback Tour. Also signed by J.J., it is still available on our Matt’s Rock Gallery website.

Follow us to not miss any of our upcoming projects and to share together this passion for music and rock!
