As the iconic band Sum 41 has just bowed out on their native turf in Toronto, Deryck Whibley has entrusted several guitars from his collection to Matt’s Guitar Shop. These instruments are tangible witnesses to the career of this seminal punk band and true pieces of history to discover at the Shop!

In the pantheon of punk music, Sum 41 are among the reference bands. Alongside Green Day and The Offspring, they helped shape the golden age of punk in the late 1990s and early 2000s, embedding their catchy riffs in the minds of millions of young teens. More than just the soundtrack of a generation, Sum 41’s hits are undeniably punk in quality, and their frontman crafted a radical, energetic, and fiery approach to live performance.

Relentless leader of Sum 41, Deryck Whibley infused the spirit of the Canadian band for nearly 30 years. As leader, songwriter, and producer, he was the architect behind many legendary hits. Over time, Deryck Whibley developed a keen ear and a true passion for the guitar. His collection reflects a preference for the Fender brand, as well as a carefully curated selection of instruments all possessing undeniable character and quality.
