Trust
The French hard rock of Nono and Bernie
Formation and Early Years
Trust was formed in Paris in 1977 by Bernie Bonvoisin (vocals) and Norbert “Nono” Krief (guitar). The band quickly established itself as the leading French hard rock act at a time when the genre was dominated by Anglo-American artists.
Major Albums
The band’s second album, Répression (1980), featured “Antisocial”, the most iconic song in French hard rock history. The track was later covered by Anthrax in 1988. Marche ou crève (1981) and Savage (1982), recorded with Nicko McBrain of Iron Maiden, further confirmed the band’s power and popularity.
Bernie Bonvoisin’s outspoken lyrics tackled issues such as social injustice, police repression, and abuses of power.
The fact that Anthrax covered “Antisocial” in 1988 on the album State of Euphoria gave Trust international exposure and demonstrated the influence of the French band on the global metal scene. Nono Krief is widely regarded as one of the greatest French guitarists of all time, admired for both his technical skills and versatility.
Legacy
Trust has disbanded and reunited several times throughout its career. The band remains an absolute reference in French hard rock and has influenced the entire French-speaking metal scene.
Iconic Guitar
Nono Krief is a virtuoso guitarist associated with the Gibson Les Paul and the Fender Stratocaster, combining technical mastery with aggressive playing.
