Herkomst en carri\u00e8re<\/h2>\n

Tom Murphy<\/strong> is een Amerikaanse gitaarbouwer<\/strong> gevestigd in Kalamazoo<\/strong>, Michigan, de historische bakermat van Gibson<\/strong>. Oorspronkelijk opgeleid als autospuiter ontwikkelde hij in de jaren 1990<\/strong> een unieke expertise in het kunstmatig verouderen<\/strong> (aging\/relic) van gitaren.<\/p>\n

Tom Murphy Aged bij Gibson<\/h2>\n

Gibson haalde hem binnen bij de Custom Shop<\/strong>, waar hij het proces “Murphy Aged”<\/strong> ontwikkelde, dat vandaag de dag geldt als d\u00e9 referentie voor high-end relicing<\/strong>. Zijn gitaren bootsen nauwkeurig de natuurlijke slijtage van decennia spelen na: lakbarsten, fret-slijtage en metaalpatina<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Het Murphy Lab<\/strong>-programma, gelanceerd in 2020<\/strong>, standaardiseerde zijn aanpak in verschillende verouderingsniveaus: Light Aged<\/strong>, Aged<\/strong> en Ultra Heavy Aged<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Het werk van Tom Murphy is zo precies dat hij de exacte craquel\u00e9-patronen<\/strong> van een 50 jaar oude nitrocelluloselak kan reproduceren, slijtagesporen die overeenkomen met rechts- of linkshandig gebruik, en zelfs de specifieke patina door zweet. Elk Murphy Aged<\/strong>-instrument is uniek en kan meerdere dagen zorgvuldig vakmanschap vereisen.<\/p>\n

Tom Murphy wordt beschouwd als de pionier en onbetwiste meester<\/strong> van gitaar-relicing. Instrumenten die persoonlijk door hem zijn bewerkt (gestempeld als “Murphy Aged”<\/strong>) behoren tot de meest gewilde en waardevolle gitaren op de verzamelmarkt.<\/p>\n
