Oprichting en beginjaren<\/h2>\n

Red Hot Chili Peppers<\/strong> werd opgericht in Los Angeles<\/strong> in 1983<\/strong> door Anthony Kiedis<\/strong> (zang), Flea<\/strong> (bas), Hillel Slovak<\/strong> (gitaar) en Jack Irons<\/strong> (drums). De band combineerde funk, punk, rock<\/strong> en rap<\/strong> tot een vernieuwende en unieke stijl.<\/p>\n

Blood Sugar en Californication<\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

Na de dood van Hillel Slovak<\/strong> in 1988<\/strong> sloot John Frusciante<\/strong> zich aan bij de band. Blood Sugar Sex Magik (1991)<\/strong>, geproduceerd door Rick Rubin<\/strong>, betekende een keerpunt: “Under the Bridge”<\/strong> en “Give It Away”<\/strong> werden wereldwijde hits.
Na een moeilijke periode markeerde Californication (1999)<\/strong> een triomfantelijke terugkeer. By the Way (2002)<\/strong> en Stadium Arcadium (2006)<\/strong> bevestigden hun status als de grootste alternatieve rockband<\/strong> ter wereld.
Flea<\/strong> (echte naam Michael Balzary<\/strong>) is een veelzijdig muzikant: klassiek geschoold trompettist, acteur (te zien in Back to the Future Part II<\/strong> en The Big Lebowski<\/strong>) en bassist. Zijn agressieve maar melodische slaptechniek<\/strong> heeft de rol van de basgitaar binnen de rockmuziek opnieuw gedefinieerd. Zijn samenwerking met Frusciante wordt beschouwd als een van de meest creatieve gitaar-basduo’s<\/strong> uit de rockgeschiedenis.<\/p>\n

De RHCP hebben meer dan 120 miljoen albums<\/strong> verkocht en werden in 2012<\/strong> opgenomen in de Rock and Roll Hall of Fame<\/strong>. Flea<\/strong> wordt beschouwd als een van de beste bassisten uit de rockgeschiedenis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
