Peter Dennis Blandford Townshend<\/strong> werd geboren op 19 mei 1945<\/strong> in Chiswick<\/strong>, Londen. Hij was ook de pionier van de beroemde windmill<\/strong>-gitaarbeweging en van het vernielen van instrumenten<\/strong> op het podium.
Tijdens het optreden van The Who op het Woodstock Festival (1969)<\/strong> vond een legendarisch incident plaats: activist Abbie Hoffman<\/strong> kwam het podium op om een politieke toespraak te houden, waarna Townshend hem met zijn gitaar wegduwde terwijl hij schreeuwde: “Get off my fucking stage!”<\/strong> \u2014 een moment dat legendarisch werd in de rockgeschiedenis.<\/p>\nNalatenschap<\/h2>\n
