Malcolm Mitchell Young<\/strong> werd geboren op 6 januari 1953<\/strong> in Glasgow<\/strong>, Schotland. Net als zijn broer Angus groeide hij op in Sydney<\/strong> nadat zijn familie naar Australi\u00eb emigreerde. Als autodidact leerde hij gitaar spelen en speelde hij in verschillende lokale bands, waaronder The Velvet Underground<\/strong> (een Australische band zonder band met die van Lou Reed), voordat hij in 1973<\/strong> medeoprichter werd van AC\/DC<\/strong>. Vanaf het begin legde Malcolm een ijzeren discipline op binnen de band: intensieve repetities, strakke liveshows en een weigering om artistieke compromissen te sluiten.
