Oorsprong en beginjaren<\/h2>\n

Kirk Lee Hammett<\/strong> wordt geboren op 18 november 1962<\/strong> in San Francisco<\/strong>. Als oprichtend lid van de thrashband Exodus<\/strong> voegt hij zich in april 1983<\/strong> bij Metallica<\/strong>, ter vervanging van Dave Mustaine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Bij Metallica<\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

Hij speelt op alle Metallica-albums sinds Ride the Lightning (1984)<\/strong>. Master of Puppets (1986)<\/strong> wordt beschouwd als een van de grootste metalalbums<\/strong> aller tijden. Metallica<\/strong> (het \u201cBlack Album\u201d, 1991<\/strong>) verkocht meer dan 16 miljoen exemplaren<\/strong> alleen al in de Verenigde Staten, aangedreven door “Enter Sandman”<\/strong> en “Nothing Else Matters”<\/strong>.
Hammett was een leerling van Joe Satriani<\/strong> en brengt een melodieuze leadstijl die be\u00efnvloed is door blues<\/strong> en klassieke heavy metal<\/strong>.
Kirk Hammett is ook een gepassioneerde verzamelaar van horrorfilms<\/strong> en horror-memorabilia. Hij publiceerde het boek Too Much Horror Business (2012)<\/strong> en cre\u00eberde de rondreizende tentoonstelling “It’s Alive”<\/strong> met zijn collectie. Deze passie komt terug in zijn custom gitaren met horrormotieven.<\/p>\n
