Pure et \u00e9l\u00e9gante, elle est une guitare aussi d\u00e9licate que puissante, pass\u00e9e entre les mains d\u2019artistes majeurs.<\/p>\n<p>Au milieu des ann\u00e9es 1960, lorsqu\u2019il n\u2019\u00e9tait pas encore le ma\u00eetre du vibrato blues au sein de <i>Free<\/i>, <b>Paul Kossoff<\/b> voulait d\u00e9j\u00e0 une Les Paul. Les vraies Gibson \u00e9taient une denr\u00e9e extr\u00eamement rare dans le Londres de l\u2019\u00e9poque, et apr\u00e8s avoir commenc\u00e9 par une Les Paul Junior, c\u2019est gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un voyage de son p\u00e8re, l\u2019acteur David Kossoff, aux \u00c9tats-Unis que le jeune Paul a re\u00e7u sa premi\u00e8re vraie Les Paul.<\/p>\n<p>Nous \u00e9tions encore loin des Burst et des Gold Top qu\u2019il jouerait sur la sc\u00e8ne de l\u2019\u00eele de Wight, mais sur une Les Paul Custom de 1955. Cette deuxi\u00e8me ann\u00e9e de production correspond \u00e0 la premi\u00e8re version de la Black Beauty, avant l\u2019arriv\u00e9e des micros humbuckers. Elle est donc \u00e9quip\u00e9e d\u2019un P90 en position aigu\u00eb et d\u2019un micro Alnico \u201cstaples\u201d en position manche.<\/p>\n<p>Ne supportant pas de voir sa pr\u00e9cieuse guitare jaunir au niveau du binding, Kossoff en a retir\u00e9 la laque. Cette absence de vernis fait que les bindings sont toujours blancs plus de cinquante ans plus tard, et elle permet d\u2019identifier cette Les Paul du premier coup d\u2019\u0153il sur les photos o\u00f9 Kossoff la joue au sein de son premier groupe, les <i>Black Cat Bones<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>Plus encore, on peut aussi identifier cette guitare sur une photo d\u2019<b>Eric Clapton<\/b> \u00e0 Londres au Marquee en 1967, lors de la tourn\u00e9e de Cream correspondant \u00e0 l\u2019album <i>Disraeli Gears<\/i>. La Black Beauty serait aussi pass\u00e9e entre les mains de Duff McKagan avant d\u2019arriver chez Matt\u2019s Guitar Shop. Une chose est s\u00fbre : apr\u00e8s toutes ces ann\u00e9es, les petits papiers coll\u00e9s dans les cavit\u00e9s \u00e9lectroniques et les gravures sur lesquels Kossoff a marqu\u00e9 son nom sont encore dans la guitare, comme si elle ne pouvait jamais compl\u00e8tement appartenir \u00e0 un autre.<\/p>\n<p>R\u00e9guli\u00e8rement pr\u00eat\u00e9e, cette guitare a notamment \u00e9t\u00e9 jou\u00e9e par Marcus King, Adrian Smith (Iron Maiden), Craig Ross (Lenny Kravitz), Charlie Starr (Blackberry Smoke) ou encore J.J.
