Some guitars do more than simply produce notes. They transcend eras, connect different musical worlds, and become direct witnesses to the history of rock. The Gibson SG we have the privilege of presenting today at Matt’s Guitar Shop is one of those rare instruments where provenance matters just as much as the sound.

This Gibson SG has an absolutely exceptional history. It belonged to Robby Krieger, iconic guitarist of The Doors, before being personally given to Tommy Henriksen, a musician renowned for his work alongside Alice Cooper and the Hollywood Vampires. A direct passing from one generation of guitarists to another, both connected to major rock worlds, already making it an extraordinary instrument.

The mere name of Robby Krieger is enough to give this guitar a special dimension. A founding member of The Doors, he helped shape the band’s sonic identity with a unique playing style combining flamenco influences, blues, and psychedelic improvisation. Tracks such as *Light My Fire* and *Riders on the Storm* still bear the mark of his highly personal approach to the electric guitar today. The fact that he is known for keeping his instruments makes this SG even rarer and more valuable.

On the other side of its history, Tommy Henriksen embodies another facet of rock, more modern and more direct, yet equally rooted in the tradition of live performance. A longtime collaborator of Alice Cooper, he operates in a world where live energy, showmanship, and sonic impact are essential. In his hands, this SG therefore continues to live on stage and in the studio, extending its story rather than freezing it in time.

The Gibson SG is, by its very nature, a guitar built for rock. Lightweight, incisive, and offering particularly smooth access to the upper frets, it has left its mark on entire generations of musicians since its introduction by Gibson. Its instantly recognizable design and powerful sound have made it an essential instrument on rock and hard rock stages.

In Robby Krieger’s hands, this SG witnessed a foundational era of psychedelic rock, that of The Doors and their singular universe. In Tommy Henriksen’s hands, it continues to resonate today with a different energy, but one that is every bit as authentic, connecting the past and the present.

For collectors, Doors or Alice Cooper enthusiasts, or simply lovers of guitars steeped in history, this SG represents far more than an instrument: it is a true bridge between two worlds of rock. A living, documented guitar, and above all, one with a deeply personal story.
