Rock wouldn\u2019t be what it is today without Led Zeppelin and its frontman, Jimmy Page. A true guitar hero capable of explosive solos, he helped revolutionize rock and set the tone for entire generations of musicians. Each of his guitars carries a mystique. Among them, the famous Gibson Les Paul Number 2\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The guitar known as \u201cNumber Two\u201d is as legendary as Led Zeppelin itself. Jimmy Page bought this 1959 Les Paul in 1973 as a backup for his Number One, which he had purchased in early 1969 from Joe Walsh and immediately adopted. Over time, this Les Paul gradually won his favor, eventually replacing his Dragon Telecaster, which he had mainly used until then.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Page acquired another 1959 Les Paul Standard Burst as a backup. This guitar was almost identical to his Number One, and he even modified the neck shape to match the feel of his prized Number One more closely.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Page frequently played this Les Paul with Led Zeppelin, and in the early 1980s he decided to make it even more versatile. He installed push-pull potentiometers on all four knobs, as well as two hidden switches under the pickguard, which together allowed control of coil splitting, phase inversion, and series\/parallel connections. All these fascinating modifications are present on the signature model.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In 2010, Gibson released this replica of Jimmy Page\u2019s Les Paul, faithfully recreating his \u201cNumber Two<\/strong>.\u201d Twenty-five of them were signed by the master, including this number 19! Available now at Matt\u2019s Guitar Shop!<\/p>\n
