The Cure<\/strong> was formed in Crawley<\/strong>, Sussex, in 1976<\/strong> around Robert Smith<\/strong> (vocals, guitar). Their shift toward pop with The Head on the Door (1985)<\/strong> and Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me (1987)<\/strong> broadened their audience.<\/p>\n Disintegration (1989)<\/strong> is widely regarded as their masterpiece, blending melancholy<\/strong>, sonic grandeur<\/strong>, and accessible pop sensibilities<\/strong>, with songs such as “Lovesong”<\/strong>, “Pictures of You”<\/strong>, and “Lullaby”<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Robert Smith temporarily joined Siouxsie and the Banshees<\/strong> as a touring guitarist in 1983<\/strong> while continuing his work with The Cure\u2014a dual role that enriched both his playing and songwriting.
