The son of a musician and art director at <strong>MGM Records<\/strong>, he received his first guitar at <strong>13<\/strong> \u2014 a <strong>Gibson Melody Maker<\/strong> given to him by his father. The <strong>Worldwide Texas Tour (1976\u20131977)<\/strong>, featuring real Texas cattle, cacti, and snakes on stage, became legendary.<br \/>In the <strong>1980s, Eliminator (1983)<\/strong> and <strong>Afterburner (1985)<\/strong> introduced <strong>synthesizers<\/strong> and <strong>drum machines<\/strong>, propelling ZZ Top to the top of global charts and <strong>MTV<\/strong>.
