The Velvet Underground<\/strong> wurde 1964<\/strong> in New York<\/strong> von Lou Reed<\/strong> (Gesang, Gitarre), John Cale<\/strong> (Bratsche, Bass, Keyboards), Sterling Morrison<\/strong> (Gitarre) und Maureen Tucker<\/strong> (Schlagzeug) gegr\u00fcndet. Wegweisende Alben<\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

The Velvet Underground & Nico (1967)<\/strong>, mit der deutschen S\u00e4ngerin Nico<\/strong> und dem ikonischen Bananen-Cover<\/strong> von Warhol, behandelte Themen wie Drogen<\/strong>, Sexualit\u00e4t<\/strong> und das Gro\u00dfstadtleben<\/strong> \u2013 Themen, die damals als tabu galten. White Light\/White Heat (1968)<\/strong> trieb den Noise Rock<\/strong> an seine Grenzen.<\/p>\n

Obwohl diese Alben bei ihrer Ver\u00f6ffentlichung kommerziell scheiterten, gelten sie heute als einige der einflussreichsten Platten<\/strong> der Rockgeschichte.<\/p>\n

John Cale<\/strong>, ein klassisch ausgebildeter Musiker aus Wales, brachte durch seine Zusammenarbeit mit dem Komponisten La Monte Young<\/strong> und der Fluxus-Bewegung<\/strong> eine avantgardistische<\/strong> Dimension in die Band ein. Seine dronende elektrische Bratsche und seine Klangexperimente bildeten einen faszinierenden Kontrast zu den poporientierten Melodien von Lou Reed.<\/p>\n
